CBD vs THC: Which is Better?

To date, CBD and THC are the two well studied and characterized compounds in the marijuana plant. Most of the strains of marijuana have higher levels of THC compared to CBD; however, the positive asset of CBD which has something to do with the therapeutic effect and non-psychoactive component is gaining more attention from the researchers and medical community and is becoming the game changer for the two famous compounds.

While CBD and THC are both anti-inflammatory, these two provide important health benefits and advantages on their own: THC has antispasmodic, analgesic, anti-tremor, and antiemetic properties, and also has sleep inducing effects. CBD has anticonvulsant property which suppresses seizures, antiemetic property which reduce nausea and vomiting, antipsychotic which fights psychosis disorder,  anti-oxidant which fights neurodegenerative disorders, and helps promote wakefulness.

The clinical use of THC is often limited because of its negative psychoactive effect. For this reason, interest in non-psychoactive compounds such as CBD of researchers and medical community greatly increased in the recent years.  As a matter of fact, CBD is also being used in reducing the intoxicating effect of THC such as anxiety and paranoia.

More often than not, THC and CBD are combined together for treatment purposes. But for an obvious reason, it is wiser to prefer strains with higher level of CBD than THC or CBD alone by choosing “non-psychoactive CBD” products to avoid psychoactive qualities that will make you high.
