Based on a study made in 2006, research shows that CBD treatment effectively lower the chance of getting diabetes in a non-obese mice from the rate of 86 percent in non-treated mice down to the rate of 30 percent in CBD-treated mice. Another good observation shown was the sufficiently reduction of plasma levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines. In a pancreatic islets histological examination done in a CBD treated mice, result revealed a greatly reduced insulitis.
The American Journal of Medicine published in 2013 a result of a study that aimed to give information about the impact of using marijuana among U.S. adults with glucose, insulin and insulin resistance. On the said study, a total of 4,657 adult men and women, in which 579 were current marijuana users and 1,975 were past users based on the National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey from year 2005-2010. According to the result of the said study, the current users were found to be 16% lower in fasting insulin levels.
In another study, the findings suggest that the therapeutic effects of CBD, could be modified to fit different receptors and illnesses such as diabetes could therefore be treated. According to ISA Scientific Chief Executive Officer Mark J. Rosenfeld, CBD may actually suppress, reverse and perhaps cure the disease.
